I have funding! The hurdles have been passed, and I have come through, richer on the other end.
Now to spend intelligently! The gear list includes, but is not limited to, the following;
- Mac Pro
- Pianoteq
- Addictive Drums
- AKG 414
- Sennheiser 421 (love this for radio voices)
- Heavyocity Evolve
- Much sound-proofing from realtraps.com
- Logic 9 (hey, why not?)
- Amplitube 3
I’d type more, but I’m actually too excited to really get it all out in words.

Podcast? Can it be?

Ehh… maybe. If I ever end up with enough to talk about. Not sure just yet.
In the meantime (hate to turn this into an ad, but still), my music is featured on ‘The Curtis and Tara show’, and I believe they’ll soon be using my services for an episode of their show.

Woo hoo! That’s awesome, Jordan. Congrats. Very excited for you.
I want to pretend to play the game too. I want to make a list! How much $ do I get (to pretend) to have?
And do you have a mandate for the type of work your studio will do?

I think you should get the same amount I have, which is $11,800.
GO!

I just came back to this thread of comments. BAM! That’s cash money. Ha. The grant I just got, (ironically – right after I posted here,) was for $2k5. But I don’t have to pay it back. Shazzam.
First purchase was two DI boxes. A sexy one (Radial ProAV2) and a cheap one (Digiflex).
Next flagrant wish item might just be an Alesis ControlPad. I like the theatrical potential of having something to beat on while I’m on stage. But I’ll do some more brainstorming and come up with my own wish list, at $11k. (And I’ll be mindful of the taxes!)

Would you ever consider http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe-to-comments/ ?

1- I have an Alesis Control Pad… not that much of a fan, but I’ve only used it a handful of times. My padKontrol spoils me.
2- I will definitely take a look at installing that plugin. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Hmmm. And again, I wish I were just down the street from wherever you are.
I rented a padKontrol, but in the end decided to buy a Launchpad. I lose on velocity, but gain on Ableton integration. (Not much interest to you.)
So I’m imagining myself on stage with the Launchpad controlling scenes, and the ControlPad letting me expend a little energy. To be honest, I haven’t even tried one, I haven’t found one in stock at L&Mc, so I would have to order it before trying. Hmmm.

I wish you were down the street (up the street?) from me too! In that I think I’d be better of in Montreal than you here in Miramichi.
Anyway, well, the only track I’ve used the ControlPad on was the very first one I posted on this site, ‘Acquaintances’. I didn’t edit the drums at all (still haven’t and despite what I said, I think I might go back and fix them). But that’s a result of me not being able to hear the music over the sound of me hitting the pads with my sticks. Also, there was a bit of a delay to begin with, and I don’t think it was entirely Logic’s fault.
Anyway, check it out. That’s just me trying to do some ghost-ish marching snare drum, with a bit of flange on top.

Nay, sir. Montreal broke my heart; I am there no longer. I have found love and meaning in Toronto. You will have to cross all the way to Upper Canada for a visit.
Spooky track. Thanks for sharing. Delay… hmmm. That doesn’t inspire confidence. I will continue to look for a demo somewhere.

My apologies… I keep referring to you (when talking to Krista) as “Montreal-Joel”, as I know a few other Joels.
You are now crowned ‘Toronto-Joel’.
Joelronto?
